Museum information

The Finnish Aviation Museum is a national special aviation museum situated close to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. There are almost 9 000 items in the museum's collection, over 17 000 books and a multitude of aviation magazines and other printed matter. In addition there are numerous flight- and aircraft maintenance manuals in the collection. The museum has a large collection of photographs, negatives, slides and other archive material. Aviation museum related articles are published regularly in "Feeniks" and "Trafiikki" -magazines.

Groups can pre-book a guided tour to the museum's main exhibition. Visitors can also use a mobile guide application to gain additional information of the museum exhibits.

Flight simulators are a new interactive way to participate in the museum experience, we offer a wide range of simulators from a historical twin engine, six seat Piper Aztec to a modern Diamond DA42 glass cockpit training simulator .Messerchmitt Bf-109 G-simulator represents a warbird enthusiasts dream and Saab S35 Draken simulator is a place for everyone.

Aviation-related books, postcards, model airplanes, scale models, etc. are on sale in the museum shop.

The museums cafe-restaurant is run by the restaurateur Gate 1. In addition to traditional cafeteria-services, Gate 1 also offers lunch of the day, Mon-Fri from 10.30 to 14.00.

The Finnish Aviation Museum is a member of "Trafiikki-museot" - a Finnish traffic and communications museum chain. The other member museums are: The automobile and road museum Mobilia, Post Museum, Radio and TV Museum, The Maritime Museum of Finland, The Finnish Railway Museum, Rupriikki Media Museum, Technical Museum and The Maritime Centre Forum Marinum.


Opening hours

The museum is open daily, except on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (24th and 25th December), on New Year's Eve (31st December) and on Midsummer's Eve. During special events the opening hours may vary.
